NEW! Learn to blow glass from the very basics.
This summer we are offering a hands-on 4 session workshop. This workshop will teach you glassblowing from the very basics. You’ll learn how to gather glass out of the furnace, how to use tools and equipment, how to shape and blow the glass, and will eventually be able to finish the workshop by making a vessel without the help of a glassblower!
Each session has 4 slots, so please invite family and friends to sign up along with you!
Our workshops are $200 per person which will get you four 2 hour long sessions.
Sessions will run 6-8 pm Monday to Friday as well as 10-12 am on Saturday and Sunday. You can either sign up to show up twice per week (over 2 weeks), or you can get all 4 sessions done in 1 week.
How does this differ from our Make Your Own Lessons?
The “Make Your Own” experience is designed as a fun single-day activity. The workshops are for people who really want to learn how to blow glass. Our goal for the workshop is to build your skill to the point where you don’t need the glassblower’s help. In other words, the workshop does not guarantee you a finished piece like the Make Your Own session would. It’s more designed as an entryway into blowing glass seriously.
What are Make Your Own Lessons?
We currently offer from 1-5 pm, 7 days a week, appointments to come in and get a chance to experience glassblowing for yourself, while making an ornament, paperweight, pumpkin, or bowl. You’ll pick your colors out and will be guided through the process by the glassblower who will ensure your piece comes out of the oven intact. Each piece made takes 10-20 minutes. After a 2 day cooling period, you get to keep what you made!
How can I continue to blow glass after the workshop?
We are preparing to sell blowing-time in our workshop (after hours) for $30.00 per hour plus materials ($2 per lb of glass used). Must sign up for a minimum of 3 hours. All glassblowing tools and equipment will be provided, but bringing or purchasing your own is encouraged. More information on blowing time will be made available in the coming weeks.
What is the age range?
We are accepting anybody 16 and up. Glassblowing is a very exhausting and physically taxing process, so please keep this in mind.
